Emoties en lichaamstaal lezen / Reading emotions and body language

How do you know how someone is feeling?

Sometimes people just tell you but when they don’t, it’s still possible to see it by their body language or by their face expression.

However that isn’t always easy to recognise, especially when you have NVLD it can be a little harder.  Sometimes it’s hard for me to tell when someone is mad or sad and when they act a certain way I can pick up a situation the wrong way and for example take it on myself when it isn’t my fault at all.

It’s also hard for me to ask people how their feeling because I’m usually afraid of saying

something wrong so I end up doing nothing which could seem like I don’t care but I do, I just don’t really know how to act in those situations. This hasn’t to be the same for everyone with NVLD but for me this is the case. I wanna improve those things,

I think the best thing you can do is just ask someone how their feeling if you’re not sure, even though that can like I mentioned be a little hard but it can prevent a lot miss understandings.

And also just pay attention on how their acting, sometimes people don’t wanna talk and sometimes they do, usually they show that with their body language.

It’s not only with being sad or mad, I struggle with reading other emotions too, like sometimes I don’t recognise if someone is showing their excitement, usually you can hear that by their voice and see it in their eyes but sometimes I can’t recognise that and wonder why that person isn’t happy about the thing they should be happy about when they actually are.  So it can be a little harder for us but that doesn’t mean we’re bad at it, if you know someone with NVLD and you see them struggling with this I would recommend to tell us what you need so that we know, that too can be hard to tell but it could help us a lot.

Tip: when someone is feeling confident they usually walk with their shoulders high up and when they’re not they usually walk with their head down.

I hope you got to learn something new today!

Until next week!

Marit
